It's My Birthday

And there you have it.

I am 35.

I celebrated in part by buying regular incandescent energy wasting light bulbs yesterday for my living room. Because the other bulbs were hurting my eyes. Sorry. That's just how it is.

I have gray hairs that are starting to make a visible appearance (to me, anyway) and while I wanted to age gracefully, I think to myself "these hairs were not supposed to show up for another 10 years!"

I have 4.5 kids.

I have a fabulous, fabulous husband.

I think I might take a nap.

And then go and buy a book.

And maybe make some key lime pie for a birthday cake. We'll see.

At 35, a lot of things are flexible and optional.

That's what I'm telling myself, anyway.

Happy Birthday to one of my dearest friends! I love you more than words and hope your 35th year is wonderful. (And I think it's high time I finally came over for a visit...maybe with some goodies on hand.)

  3. Happy Birthday! Sounds like a great way to celebrate. Key lime pie, energy wasting bulbs, and a new book. Love it!

  4. Yes, at 35 a lot of things *are* flexible and optional.

I'm 38 now and still feel that way. Excited, looking forward, not complete closure on my family unit, and seeing possibility everywhere.

    happy bday.

  6. So, I know we know eachother. H family, D family, long history, blah, blah, blah. But this post made me think and wonder why we aren't bosom buddies man! I think the 'new' lightbulbs green people want the world to buy look harsh and unnatural. I feel like I'm in a warehouse sometimes when I'm around them. I know my attitude isn't doing it's part in saving energy. Buying a book on my birthday has been a private tradition of mine for years. And I think key lime pie is the cat's meow! It was my birthday cake of choice in 2009. But I don't make it. Kudos for that. Happy birthday by the way. And congrats on baby # 4.5.
